Understanding Apertrure

Aperture
What is aperture?
Aperture is the amount of time shutter speed is open, that permits light to come through the lens.
How does it work technically?
The lower you have your f/stop, the more light enters. The higher you have your f/stop the less light enters. The lower f/stops causes a small depth of field, and the higher f/stop causes a large depth of field.
How does it work visually?
When you have a lower f/stop, and you have a small depth of field, it separates the subject from the background. Causing a blur. When you have a higher f/stop, and a high depth of field, it creates a clear picture, and no part of the picture will turn out blurry.
Relationship to exposure triangle
When you change the f/stop you need to change the shutter speed to balance the scale out at zero, on the camera before you take the picture. This also goes for when you change the shutter speed and you need to change the f/stop to balance out. You do not need to change the ISO.

Photographic Themes

I thought that this themed shooting assignment was a great way to capture what we truly are like inside. The sketchbook cover showed how we are on the outside, but the 25 photos showed our feelings in the inside. The end result of this project I thought turned out pretty well. I was satisfied with most of my photo's, but some it was hard to find pictures to take of, since some of the words were more complex. One of my favorite photo's was the photo for hope, because it really captured how hope in some people's eyes is a light shining through a dark tunnel. Hope is leading the way. Another photo that I was proud of is the photo for sad. The blue in the mask captured sadness, along with her hand covering half of her face.

Sketchbook cover

I picked a piano for my sketchbook cover, because I have played the piano and taken piano lessons since I was little. My theme that I chose for my sketch book cover is fall and all of the colors that go along with the season. The tree represents the change of the season, along with the falling leaves , and piano notes. I chose contrast, and I contrasted light and dark colors with the tree being black along with the white falling piano notes. This contrasted black grey and white colors.
